Development Programs

Doing skate programs, classes directed towards females, giving them more learning tools and space to grow their skills. Our goal is to make the brand synonymous with skateboarding throughout female and LGBTQIA+ skateboarders nationally.

We collect second hand boards from all over South Africa and hand them out to kids that need boards, we also hand out skate gear, like shoes, helmets and anything skate related.

SHARNE JACOBS

FOUNDER  & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


Sharne Jacobs founded the organisation in 2015 through her passion for the sport and skate culture. Sharne is an instructor at various parks, with a large network within the industry. Sharne manages all day to day activities of the organisation. Through her commitment and drive, GSSA brings skateboarding to more Girls in the country than any other organisation. Sharne has managed the design portfolios for many corporates and brings great energy to the image.

ALEX PENHALIGON

CHIEF EDITOR

Alex has a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and has worked across various industries including ITC, OEM and B2B Distribution. He brings with him a wealth of business experience which will assist the organisation to grow to new heights. Alex manages portfolios ranging from finance to sales and marketing strategy and has proven himself as a great addition to the team.

ASHTON DE VILLIERS

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR


Ashton is a great example of how skateboarding can be a useful tool to expand your experience and outreach. Relatively new to skateboarding, in a short time, Ashton has shown to be indispensable to the organisation. Ashton has assisted with event planning, logistics and all aspects of business administration. Watch this space, she is going places.

Chantal has been skateboarding for over 3 years having picked it up as an adult. Quickly coming to realise that skateboarding was a platform for a lot of creativity and positive outreach. Chantal co owns a skateboard shop/brand. Her love for the community, most especially the drive to get more girls on board (coming from a town where she was the only femme skater) – led her towards Proactively becoming part of Girls Skate Durban.
